Some of the country's longest routes also pass through Hirtshals, making it a great place to start your journey. The local hiking and cycling routes also offer unique experiences. For example, both Tornby and Tversted Klitplantage offer challenging mountain bike routes. Lilleheden Klitplantage, Skallerup Indlandsklitter and Tversted Klitplantage offer beautiful hiking routes and in the areas you can also find horse riding trails.
In Hirtshals, Tversted and Lønstrup there are many beautiful beaches that are both child-friendly and perfect for windsurfing, SUP and other exciting water sports activities. Tversted Strand is home to the grey ice cream parlour, which has won the award for Denmark's best ice cream parlour several times. The ice cream from the grey ice cream parlour can be enjoyed on the popular Tversted Beach. If you're lucky, you can also find amber on the beaches in autumn and winter.
From the child-friendly beach, you can see Hirtshals' landmark, Hirtshals Lighthouse. Hirtshals Lighthouse is 22 metres above sea level and it is possible to climb the stairs and enjoy the beautiful view of Hirtshals town and Skagerak.

Right next to the Hirtshals Lighthouse you'll find the Bunker Museum Hirtshals 10th Battery, where you can learn about the importance of Hirtshals in World War II. During the summer period, it is possible to take a guided tour of the Bunker Museum Hirtshals 10th Battery and get up close to the bunkers.
In Hirtshals, Tversted and Lønstrup it is possible to enjoy many different types of sports activities - both on land and in water. Hirtshals is ideal for angling in the North Sea, from the pier or the shore wearing waders. Uggerby Å offers fantastic canoeing, which can take from a few hours to a multi-day trip with accommodation in shelters along the way. Within 20 kilometres you'll find several golf courses where you can enjoy many hours of play.
