Old-fashioned in a modern way
The owners of Hotel Inger describe it as a time warp with 70s charm and modern amenities. The atmosphere is informal and personalised service is paramount. Guests return year after year - some families have visited Hotel Inger since 1958.
Local food experiences in focus
The kitchen is known for classic dishes and homemade specialities. It uses local produce wherever possible and makes everything from scratch - breads, cakes, jams and pickled vegetables.
Resident guests can pre-order dinner Monday to Wednesday. The menu offers everything from freshly caught fish to old-fashioned roast beef and delicious desserts such as homemade gooseberry porridge and Danish cheeses with cherry wine. Lunch includes open sandwiches with Læsørejer, fish cakes, chicken salad and fish fillets from Skagen. In the afternoon, you can enjoy coffee and home baking in the garden with cosy nooks and shady corners.
During the summer, events such as seafood dinners and beach hotel-style dinners are organised.
Seaside hotel with history
Hotel Inger started as a smithy where Inger and Møller Nielsen began serving food to tourists and drivers in 1948. Over the years, the place was transformed into a seaside hotel with extensions in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Today, the hotel is run with respect for the history and spirit of the place - as a true seaside hotel in North Jutland.
Experiences nearby
The hotel is located in Hulsig - Denmark's northernmost village with its own church, restored by artist Arne L. Hansen. It is only 13 kilometres to Skagen and 1.5 kilometres to the beach through the dune plantation. Both the Kattegat and the beach at Kandestederne are within easy reach.
The area offers fantastic nature experiences: Hulsig Hede, Bunken Klitplantage and Europe's largest hiking dune - Råbjerg Mile. The Hulsigstien cycle path runs right past the hotel, and many cyclists stop at Hotel Inger. For golf enthusiasts, the beautiful Hvide Klit course is just a few kilometres away.
Trains and buses from the Skagen railway stop in Hulsig, and Skagen town with Grenen, the Sanded Church and museums is a great place to visit during your stay.
