The store's history dates back to 1911, when merchant and justice Lars Holst founded Skagen Kul og Trælastforretning.
Skagen was at that time in rapid development and the store was at that time the city's only timber trade.
The store has - like the city - undergone significant development. It is no longer a timber business, but a dealer of, among other things, large established design brands, small hand-picked artisan companies, everything for the outdoors and modern kitchens.
However, history and heritage are undeniable and they also still have a significant selection of nails, screws, paint from Dyrup, putties and whatever else is needed to handle projects in the home and garden.
The business is still run by the Holst Family, and the brothers Henrik and Lars Holst are the 5th generation at the helm. Together with a solid team of employees, they pass on the story of Huset Holst.
